Many procedures can be combined with the European MACS Lift. The most common include:
Brow lift (endoscopic or occasionally open): This procedure accomplishes the same type of rejuvenation in the upper one-third of the face that the European MACS Lift accomplishes in the lower two-thirds.
Upper lid blepharoplasty: This procedure removes excess skin and fat from the upper eyelids, resulting in a more youthful look around the eyes. It is sometimes difficult to determine whether an individual patient needs a brow lift, upper blepharoplasty or both. This will be discussed in detail with Dr. Press if there is interest in rejuvenation of the upper face.
Lip augmentation: Lip fullness decreases with age. At the time of MACS Lift, it is straightforward to remove a strip of SMAS tissue just in front of each ear. These are then tunneled through the lips using small incisions inside the mouth. This increases the lip fullness. Because these SMAS grafts are the patient's tissue, results have the potential to last for a number of years.
Some of the other procedures Dr. Press commonly performs are not advised in combination with the European MACS Lift. These include procedures requiring implant placement or those that cause a great deal of swelling.
